Hi, fellow PSOM'ers,
Given your interest in media about health, I thought you'd be interesting in hearing about a new Fellowship opportunity available: a Fellowship in Children's Health Media . This Fellowship, now in its fourth year, provides an opportunity for pediatricians to learn advanced skills involving a range of health communications programs.
The Fellowship is a 2-year program at the Nemours Center for Children's Health Media. The Center (the only such one in the country as far as we know) is staffed by pediatricians, media designers, health and science writers, programmers, business developers, and researchers - and is located on the beautiful 300-acre grounds of the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE (about 30 minutes from Philadelphia), the home of the pediatric residency of Jefferson Medical School. The Fellow will also get to participate in on-going clinical activities.
The Center creates quite a range of health media projects, mostly aimed at "consumers" - including KidsHealth.org (with over 200,000 visitors daily), books, encyclopedias, videos, etc. Quite a few exciting projects are coming down the pike, as well.
In addition to this Fellowship, we are open to arranging "customized" involvement with the Center. For example, we could arrange a "mini-Fellowship" for experienced clinicians who might want to work with us on some of our projects - or spend a shorter time with us.
I've enclosed our Fellowship position. (Click here to download a 30 KB MS Word file which describes the position.) Please feel free to pass it on - and also to contact me personally if you have any questions/comments.
Regards,
Neil Izenberg MD,
