USEFUL RESOURCES FOR ADVOCACY INFORMATION

     
   

1. Hawaii State Government: Has Bill Status and Docs, members of House and Senate, members of various committees and more - Useful during legislative session. www.capitol.hawaii.gov/

2. American Academy of Pediatrics: Both Federal and State Government Affairs are found under "Advocacy". Members Only Login (MOC), "AAP Policy" is where we find policy statements on a large number of issues. These provide specific information to use in developing position papers. www.aap.org/

3. Department of Health: Points of interest are Family/Child Heath, Health Statistics and Healthy Life Styles. Health Statistics contains all the statistics we hear over and over again but never can remember. www.hawaii.gov/doh

4. Good Beginnings Alliance: A good resource for issues related to early childhood. You will find "Public Agenda for Hawai'i's Keiki" and "Early Childhood Data". www.goodbeginnings.org.

5. Kids Count: This site is maintained by the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Their purpose is grass roots community development focusing on the needs of families. Kids Count in Hawaii is a project of the Center on the Family at UH Manoa. Their data center provides data on communities defined as public school complexes. 8. Position Papers: The Position Papers posted on the Chapter website contain references which were used to develop that particular position paper.
